Hi Everybody-

I wanted to let everyone know about an fantastic event being held in our neighborhood.

It's called Backpack in the Park and it's a back-to-school benefit being sponsored by For the Kid in All of Us. It's happening Sunday, June 28 from 4 to 8pm in Grant Park by the Pavillions. There will be food, drinks and fun activities for all ages. Adult admission is a new school backpack stocked with a pre-determined list of items OR a $30 (or greater) gift card (Target, Staples, Office Depot, Walmart, etc.). Kids are free if they are accompanied by an adult with a backpack or a gift card.

Each new backpack must contain the following supplies: 12 No. 2 pencils; 12 medium black ballpoint pens; 4 fluorescent highlighters; 1 spiral notebook (100+ pages); 1 two-inch, 3-ring notebook binder; 1 pack (150+ sheets)3-hole punched paper, 1 box 24+ crayons, 1 12" wood or plastic ruler; 1 pink eraser; 1 glue stick. Additional items are welcome!!

More information is available at www.forthekid.org.

On a personal note, my kids and I attended last year and I could not believe the amount and quality of food and drinks!! It was all-you-can-eat! YUM! After the event, I was fortunate enough to assist in distributing the backpacks to kids who wouldn't have had any school supplies otherwise. I will never forget the sight of one little kindergarten boy hugging his backpack like it was his new best friend! It really meant something to these kids and their families. This year, one of the beneficiaries, Nicholas House, is right in our neighborhood. Nicholas House is a shelter that serves families in our community -- one of the few shelters in Atlanta that keeps families together. Please, please consider donating to this cause or attending this event.

Thank you for your consideration.

Terry Roth
