Love Grant Park?

  Grant Park Neigborhood Association (GPNA)

Love Grant Park?
Walk the talk as an Ambassador!

What's a Grant Park Ambassador?
Grant Park Ambassadors are community volunteers who help make Grant Park safer and cleaner for all. The most important duty is to be visible and accessible to park guests. Ambassadors politely educate guests but do not enforce park rules or laws. That is the role of the paid security patrol (every Saturday & Sunday April - October, 1-7 p.m.) and the Atlanta Police department, which coordinate with the Ambassadors.

We have over 30 ambassadors trained so far. We need to double this number before Memorial Day weekend.

Training
You must attend a brief training program before volunteering. I will lead training sessions this Saturday (5/9) from 3-4:30 p.m. and following Wednesday evening (5/13) 6-7:30 p.m. Meet at green pavilions near the Zoo. I can also train you in small groups "on the job" prior to the Jazz Festival as a last option.

Ambassador Shifts
Please let me know if you would like to volunteer as an Ambassador any weekend during May. I'm most interested in having lots of people help Saturday, May 23rd and Sunday May 24th for Atlanta Jazz Festival (Memorial Day weekend). Depending on the weather, we could have as many as 40,000 guests in the park.

Sign-up Incentive
Thanks to Stella Trattoria and Six Feet Under, we will hand out restaurant coupons to the first 20 people who sign up and show up either for training or a volunteer shift.

Email me
today when you'd like to train or volunteer. Specifically let me know whether or not you can help out at all during Memorial Day weekend during Atlanta Jazz Festival.

Wish List
If you can't be an ambassador, there are other ways to help out. You can donate stuff or services or money, all for a tax-deduction through GPNA, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Please check out our Wish List.

Too many people to thank . . .

Thank you to the many folks and organizations who have helped bring Grant Park Ambassadors to life, particularly the Grant Park Neighborhood Association; Grant Park Conservancy; Zoo Atlanta; NPU-W; Council Member Carla Smith; APD Zone 3 Commander Major Finley; and Commissioner Dianne Harnell Cohen of the Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs.

Please forward this email to your neighborhood lists today to help recruit volunteers for this worthy program.

Peace,

Phred Huber
