Come join me at Peds In Street Crosswalk Sign needed! on NOPCA

From: Abbie Gulson

Hi All,
Would you mind forwarding on please  - I really hope we can make this happen, traffic flies down Bill Kennedy, often trying to catch the light, the buses are among the worse culprits too. I would love to see a stop sign at this intersection but a peds in street crosswalk sign will help.

christin has invited you to the event 'Peds In Street Crosswalk Sign needed!' on NOPCA!

Please use this as a reminder to request an In Street Crosswalk Sign for Bill Kennedy / Garrett St. Thanks for the help!!! Instructions included in attached evite.

Time: May 8, 2009 from 4pm to 5pm
Location: Glenwood Park
Organized By: christin

Event Description:
When crossing from Garrett St across Bill Kennedy Biway as if going to The Shed, there is a pedestrian crosswalk, but drivers do not notice it and have almost hit several pedestrians. There are a lot of new mom's with strollers making this crossing, and it's on the dangerous side, especially for them. Could you all please take a moment to fill out a ped's in-street crosswalk sign request? Here are the instructions:

Go to www.peds.org or specifically http://peds.org/take_action/report-hazards/ which comes from the "take action" and "report hazards" submenu of the homepage. From there you click "City of Atlanta" and then "In street crosswalk sign needed." From there you fill in the form.

The form says that you do NOT want to tell your friends to complain about the same area as multiple requests may get ignored. However, when the Peds organization lady came to speak to us once, she basically reiterated that the squeaky wheel gets the grease--the more people that complain / file a form about this, the faster it will be addressed. We've done this before with other NOPCA streets and were successful in getting those signs installed. Let's make sure we help out our Glenwood Park side by making it a safer pedestrian experience! Thanks, guys!
