Subject: TB Awareness Walk on Saturday, March 21, 2009
Did you know that approximately 2 billion people, equal to one-third of the world's population, are infected with the TB bacilli, the microbes that cause TB?
In an effort to raise awareness of this deadly disease, the National TB Controllers Association (NTCA) has partnered with CDC's Division of TB Elimination, the American Lung Association of the Southeast Region, the Georgia Division of Public Health, the Fulton County Health Department, DeKalb County Board of Health, RESULTS International, The Watsonian Society (a CDC employee organization), local businesses, and others to plan and host the 3rd Annual TB Awareness Walk.
The walk will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2009 in Grant Park at 9:00 am (Registration begins at 8:00 am).
To register to walk, go to www.tbwalk.org. There is no registration fee. T-shirts will be provided as well as entertainment.
To volunteer to help with the walk or for more information, please contact Vic Tomlinson at 404-639-5315 or VTomlinson@cdc.gov.
Hope to see you there!
