Subject: Fw: NCS PTCA Meeting on Tuesday

Sorry I sent the other e-mail before with no explanation. Do you mind sending these e-mails around? Tomorrow is a very important PTCA meeting.

I think it's important folks know it is happening.

I am in support of this effort. I think it can only strengthen our neighborhood.

Peace,

Annette

Dear families, faculty, staff and community,

At the regular meeting of the PTCA on Tuesday, March 3 at 6:30pm, there will be a presentation and open discussion about a very important topic to the future of NCS and our communities. The board of NCS recently had an informal discussion about the possibility of officially merging Atlanta Charter Middle School, which grew out of NCS four years ago, into NCS. This is in its first stages, and many details and issues still must be evaluated and worked out. But the fundamental idea is that this would create a single Kindergarten through 8th grade school, operating two campuses. The elementary grades would remain at the Slaton building.

The middle school would remain where it is in the Anne E. West building.

But NCS students would be guaranteed enrollment at the middle school--which currently is not the case.

The purpose of the March 3 meeting is to talk broadly about this possibility, share ideas and concerns and bring everyone into the conversation before any formal decisions are made. Please attend this very important meeting for our communities.

Sincerely,

Tammie Mitchell

Chair, NSC Governing Board
