| | Grant Park Security Patrol (GPSP) The extra patrols are making a difference! This is the third consecutive week with no reported residential burglaries. We thank all members for your support and for new members, please consider your continuing support in the spring. At the new level of membership we will be able to continue the 40 hours of patrols per week. Springtime and early summer typically bring on new problems and with officers on the streets we can give the criminals a message that they are not welcome in our community. There have been some vehicle larcenies including 5 in the parking lot at Parkside Elementary. This incident occurred at 10:30 last Monday. It is not clear whether the target was a vehicle to be stolen or items of value in the vehicles. The surveillance video is not good quality but the suspect is a black male, 30s, and thin build. Please remember to keep valuables out of your vehicles. This crime of opportunity takes only a minute. At a community leaders meeting last week Major Propes from zone 6 emphasized the importance of recording the serial numbers of electronics and also the inventory of valuables in our homes. Zone 6 made a significant case at a "receiver" house in North Ormewood. Only a small percentage of items could be identified as being taken in burglaries although 3 or 4 good cases were made. The GPSP annual meeting will be held on March 31 at Park Ave Church. | |
